The 411 on Permanent Hair Reduction

Millions of people enjoy a new kind of freedom.

Tried, true and available at the studio, permanent hair reduction works! With clinically proven results, we want you to know about this treatment, the process, and the potential for you in this blog.

QUICK NOTE: Our new laser offers SO MANY solutions to skincare concerns, but we want you to be informed, not overwhelmed. Let’s dive into it.

We’ll apply a thin layer of gel to ensure good contact with the skin; however, permanent hair reduction does not require a topical anesthetic. A lot of our clients describe it as a rubber band being snapped against their skin.

Our Nordly system delivers short, safe bursts of Ellipse IPL™ directed at the target site.

IPL (intense pulsed light) treatments technically are not lasers but are often used to treat similar concerns as lasers, such as sun damage, vascular lesions, acne, rosacea, and hyperpigmentation. - American Board of Cosmetic Surgery

The system filters out potentially harmful wavelengths of light, only emitting light that's absorbed by the pigment in your hair. This light converts into heat, which travels down to the root of your hair follicle and heats the hair matrix, preventing future hair growth. 🥰

Because we’re using melanin to convert light into heat, this treatment is most efficient on dark hair. Light blond, red, grey, or white hairs may not respond to treatment. This system can remove excessive hair in a variety of areas, like:

  • Upper lip

  • Chin

  • Legs

  • Bikini Area

  • Underarms

  • Back

  • Shoulders

  1. A consultation is necessary prior to your procedure to talk about your goals and make sure you’re prepared for treatment.

  2. It’s important not to pluck, tweeze, wax, or use hair removal creams during the four weeks before treatment. It is also important to avoid tanning (including the sun, tanning salons or self-tanning products) before and during the treatment period.

  3. Your treatment may take anywhere from a few minutes to 30 minutes, depending on the area we target. The number of treatments depends on the location and the life cycle of your hair. Different hairs grow at intervals, so you may need to repeat treatment to target all hair follicles.

  4. Usually, 4-6 treatments are needed with about 1-3 month in between.

Certain medications or conditions affect how the skin reacts to laser treatment.

Be upfront and honest with us about your medical history and any medications or supplements you are taking, please. We want to make sure you have a lovely experience and a swift, healthy healing.
